Wyken Field was ploughed in October 2004; the first seed was planted in January 2005 and the first spinach leaf was harvested in May 2005. The field is dedicated to the growing of commercial vegetable crops, herbs and fruits whilst conserving and encourging wildlife in barriers carefully maintained in and amongst the cultivated areas.
2009 and we have expanded growing in tunnels in expectation of changing weather conditions. New polytunnels have gone up and we had a bountiful harvest of tomatoes in both 2007 and 2008, two of probably the worst growing seasons certainly in our memory.
